Day Two

Nehemiah 9:17

They refused to obey, and were not mindful of the wonders that you performed among them; but they stiffened their necks and determined to return to their slavery in Egypt. But you are a God ready to forgive, gracious and merciful, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, and you did not forsake them.

Reflection

How many times has the Lord poured out wonderful blessings into our lives and we have been full of gratitude and praise,  yet,  just like the Israelites, we soon forget our Lord and his goodness?  Even though the Israelites had seen the mighty wonders of their God, they refused to obey.  They were stiff necked and stubborn.  They chose not to follow his ways.

In what areas of our lives have we not been willing to surrender to him?  Is it because we are stubborn and want to have our own way?  It is time to turn back to our first love: Jesus.  He is calling his own back to him.  He is standing with arms open wide ready to receive even the most rebellious, stubborn sinner. He is gracious, merciful and slow to anger.

God is waiting for you to run into his arms. He knows all about your situation and he is full of compassion for you.  Turn now and let him love you.

Prayer

Loving God, thank you for being so forgiving and merciful. I surrender to you now my past, present and future. I run into your arms, Jesus, and ask you to heal my wounded heart. May I always know you as a God of love and mercy.

Amen
